Hello Goeff, I just uploaded the following packages: nspark-1.7.6beta.tar.gz nspk176b.exe This is the DOS port of nspark. As yet it is NOT a replacement for version 1.7.5 because the maintainer (Andrew Brooks arb@comp.lancs.ac.uk) has so far not responded to my messages that there is a DOS port. Probably on holiday. That is why I added `beta' to the name. But as far as I can test, it works just like 1.7.5. So the `developers' subdirectory is probably the best place to put it. As for the contents: nspark-1.7.6beta.tar.gz is a (gnu-zipped) tar file organized the same way as the original nspark-1.7.5.tar.gz. It contains the sources and ready compiled executables for RISC OS, various flavours of unix and now also DOS. nspk176b.exe is a self-extracting RARchive that contains only the DOS executable and the manuals. (This is the version that my sysop wanted and the reason that I made this DOS port. He runs a BBS dedicated to Acorns on a PC, so he can use his Archi and RPC for more useful purposes. Yet for maintenance it is useful to be able to unpack incoming files without transferring them to another machine first.) nspk176b.exe uses the new self-extracting scripts of RAR 1.54. (Great! When o when will there be a RISC OS RAR?) The contents can of course also be extracted using RAR 1.51 or newer. There exists an unrar for RISC OS. I presume that has been compiled from the free sources provided with RAR. Unfortunately, that version is not able to unarchive self-extracting RARchives. (The same unrar exists for un*x, with the same problem.) Suggested readme's (also uploaded with .readme extended): nspark-1.7.6beta.tar.gz: Short: Extractor under DOS, unix and riscos for spark-archives. Extractor under DOS, unix and riscos for older archives created with spark, spark and arcfs. NOTE: Not yet a replacement for nspark-1.7.5.tar.gz. nspk176b.exe: Short: Extractor under DOS for spark-archives. Extractor under DOS for older archives created with spark, spark and arcfs. Self-extracting RARchive contains executable and documentation only. Full package in nspark-1.7.6beta.tar.gz. Regards, Bob.
